Truth About Pit Bulls

The American Pit Bull Terrier is a very misunderstood dog breed and is often labeled as an aggressive and dangerous animal. Usually when someone see's or hears the word 'pit bull' they run and try to get the hell out of dodge. Well I am writing this article to inform the masses the truth about this misunderstood breed.
The truth is, not a whole lot of people really understand nor do they know anything about pit bulls. So for starters, they are one of the most passionate, powerful, playful, and intelligent dog breeds. They are passionate and loving dogs who will do anything to please there owner. They love to learn and to be engaged in activities. And 'Yes', they are very strong and powerful dogs and sometimes think they are the size of a little ankle biting chihuahua, but the truth is they won't hurt a fly. Well maybe a fly, but what dog doesn't like to chase bugs.
They are very energetic and love to play, and play, and play. Then after some water and a quick rest they just want to play some more.
They do tend to be a little on the excited side. The are high strung and full of energy. Nothing that a short walk or game of fetch won't cure. Unlike popular belief, they are not naturally aggressive, people hating, dog biting pups. Just like any dog out there, they do need to be properly socialized when growing up. Pit bulls are very loyal animals and are very eager to learn and please their 'pack leader' which is or at least should be, you.
I'm amazed at how well my 16 month old pit bull Roxy behaves and how quick she is to learn new tricks or commands. Here's a little bit of statistics and facts about them. The average pit bull stands between 14 - 24 inches tall usually weighing in anywhere between 22 - 75 pounds. The usual life expectancy is about roughly 12 years. {Don't you wish they lived as long as we did?} They have a smooth, short haired coat that doesn't shed to bad. Pit bulls can be almost any color but more popular as being black & white, red & white, blue & white, and tri-color.
One last thing you should know about this breed before I end this article is they have an extremely hard head. Remember when I said they sometimes think they are little chihuahuas? Well watch your face when they hop on your lap or try to give you puppy kisses because that head hurts when they forget to put on the brakes. Not only that but I'm pretty there tales are like little whips. When they get excited, there tails get to flyin.
Thanks for reading my article and hope you enjoyed it.
