Top model auditions for Americas Next Top Model take place annually. Talk show host and model Tyra Banks created the reality show in 2003. Tyra is the head judge and an executive producer of the show. The seasons of the show are called cycles and the casting for the 19th cycle just ended in March. The cycle will have a college theme, and it is set to premier in fall 2012. The show is among the highest rated shows on the CW where it airs. Each cycle has 9-13 episodes and starts with 10-14 contestants. A contestant is eliminated during each episode though, on rare occasions there is no elimination or two contestants are eliminated. The show has a judging panel that makes the elimination decisions.

Modeling auditions take place across select cities in the USA. The open castings take place on different dates in the select cities. Those who want to take part download the application forms online. They must then have their printed and complete application during the model auditions. Each participant is given an equal opportunity to take part as long as they meet the requirements. Cycle 19's theme was inspired after Tyra Banks completed a degree from the Owner President Management Program at Harvard Business School. After displaying their modeling spirit and skills, they get a chance to launch their modeling careers in a good fashion.
